Yeah but ya know Saturday morning they will be heading for the brush cover with all the yahoos out there. just yesterday i found 2 stands 40 yards from mine. I put a nice little note on it because 1) its posted and 2) I don't want them taking my deer. Had a big boy walk in on me this morning while i was on my way into my stand. Not sure if he was the one from last night but I waited for an hour before I could even move. I ended up just sittin down under the pines cuz I was soaked.

Shot Swamp Donkey #2 of the 09 season tonight with the smoke pole. I got out right before dark because I had a feeling I'd get a chance and she read the script perfectly. She came out at about 75 yards and turned broadside. She made some kind of soft grunt that I'm pretty sure translates to "Please shoot me with a 250 grain T/C Shockwave bullet." Being a polite guy, I gave her what she wanted  . She ran about 40 yards at best. If I can sneak out tomorrow I'm going for another one, followed by a trip to the Home Depot for a chest freezer. |

Shot Swamp Donkey #3 of the 09 season tonight with the smoke pole. She's probably the second biggest donk I've ever shot and darn near killed myself trying to get her into the truck by myself. I haven't had her scored yet but I'm pretty sure she scores at least 1" more than Kurt's monster 9 pointer. He'll probably deny it but that's just the jealousy speaking |

Well the east side boys finshed off the season last night, I took a big fat Swamp D to polish off the a great season and to do a little herd management

I'm sad to see the season end. Time to drag the trail cam back out there and see what survived the gun slinging!
Then it's time to start putting in work for the 2010 season.

Just got my mount back from Jim Block at The Buck Stops Here Taxidermy Studio. Couldnt be happier and Im amazed with the fine detail that went into the mount. He even went so far as to put fake water dropplets on the deers whiskers around the nose and mouth to simulate moisture. Very happy with the work he did.
